Raspberry Pi
/WiFi router. A USB to Serial conversion chip is housed inside the large USB plug, and at the end of the 1M cable are four wires - red power, black ground, white RX into the USB port, and green TX out of the USB port.
The power pin receives 5V @ 500mA directly from the USB port, while the RX/TX pins are 3.3V levels for interfacing with most 3.3V logic level chipsets. This cable is ideal for powering and connecting to the debug/login console on the Raspberry Pi or
BeagleBone Black
due to the separated pin plugs.
Also useful for hacking WiFi routers to instal alternate operating systems, or almost any other 3.3V logic serial port. Because the wires are separated, this is often easier to use than an FTDI cable.
